PhishDestroy threat report
exodusmarket.online posed as a branded Exodus portal under the page title "Log in — Exodus Market" and targeted people who hold crypto in the Exodus wallet. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-26, one day after the domain was registered. The site went offline on 2026-09-09, and its DNS was still inactive when we last checked on 2026-10-19.
Exodus is a self-custody wallet with no web account to sign in to, so a page called "Log in — Exodus Market" is a lure in itself. Pages like this ask visitors to sign in or verify their wallet, often by typing a password, a 12-word recovery phrase or a private key into a form that sends the input straight to the operators. With a recovery phrase in hand, attackers can rebuild the wallet on their own device and empty every asset in it. There is no chargeback, and the transfers cannot be reversed.
Six of 90 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-05: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, but ChainPatrol is a crypto-focused vendor, and the domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's own. Four AlienVault OTX pulses reference it, which means other analysts tracked the same infrastructure independently.
The domain was registered on 2026-08-25 through HOSTINGER operations, UAB and was being caught as phishing within a day, a lifecycle typical of short-lived lookalike domains set up for a single campaign. It resolved to an IP address hosted in France. The site served a valid TLS certificate issued by YE1, so the browser padlock gave visitors no signal that the page was fake.
If you typed an Exodus recovery phrase or private key into this site, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase on a clean device and move any remaining funds there immediately. If you reused a password from this page anywhere else, change it on those services and turn on two-factor authentication. Remember that Exodus never asks for your phrase through a website, so reach the wallet only through the official app. Security teams should block the domain and its IP, search proxy and DNS logs for visits between 2026-08-25 and 2026-09-09, and contact any users who connected during that window.
