PhishDestroy threat report
ethus.app is a phishing site built to pass as Coinbase. It targets people who hold funds on the exchange or use its wallet products. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-25. On 2026-10-19 the domain still resolved, but its phishing content could not be loaded.
Coinbase impersonation pages copy the exchange's sign-in flow. Victims who arrive from a search ad, a fake support message or a lookalike link enter their email, password and two-factor code, and the operators replay those details against the real account to withdraw funds. Some variants also ask for a wallet recovery phrase under a pretext like "account verification", which hands over the wallet outright. The page currently returns the title "ethus.app | 522: Connection timed out", a server error, while our classification rests on the Coinbase phishing content detected earlier.
The Coinbase impersonation was confirmed by several independent sources. On 2026-10-07, VirusTotal showed 18 of 92 engines flagging the domain, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar and Chong Lua Dao. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified Coinbase as the imitated brand. MetaMask and SEAL list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections are already warned. Two AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-10 through Global Domain Group LLC and was caught 15 days later. That short gap is typical of throwaway domains bought for a single campaign. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, Inc. (geolocated to Canada), which hides the server actually hosting the kit.
If you signed in on ethus.app, change your Coinbase password right away from the official app. Reset your two-factor authentication, end any active sessions you don't recognize, and check your withdrawal and API key settings. Contact Coinbase support only through the official app, and ignore anyone who reaches out offering to "recover" your account. If you typed a wallet recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move the funds to a new wallet with a fresh phrase. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and search mail and web logs for users who visited it after 2026-09-10.
