bitwinex.im is an impersonation phishing site aimed at cryptocurrency users. It presents itself under the bare page title "DApp", a label meant to look like a legitimate decentralized application. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-11. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving live content.
How the scam works
Impersonation pages like this copy the look of a trusted crypto service so visitors believe they are on the real platform. A "DApp" front end usually prompts the visitor to connect a wallet, then asks them to sign a transaction or approve token spending, or to enter a recovery phrase to "verify" or "sync". Any of those actions can hand the operators control of the funds. Once a malicious approval is signed or a seed phrase is typed in, assets can be moved out of the wallet without any further action from the victim.
Evidence
On 2026-09-22, 7 of 89 VirusTotal engines classified the domain as malicious: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar, VIPRE and Webroot. That is a minority of engines, but the flags come from independent vendors. ScamSniffer, a blocklist focused on Web3 scams, lists the domain separately from PhishDestroy. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well.
Infrastructure
The site resolves to 188.114.97.3 on Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada. That address is a Cloudflare edge proxy, so it hides where the real server is. The registrant's identity is redacted in WHOIS. The site has stayed reachable for more than five weeks after PhishDestroy first detected it, which means visitors can still land on it.
What to do
Do not connect a wallet to bitwinex.im or sign anything it requests. If you already connected, use a token-approval checker to review and revoke any allowances you granted through this site. Move your remaining funds to a fresh wallet if you signed unfamiliar transactions. If you typed your seed phrase into the page, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer the assets to a new wallet immediately. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and the web proxy, add it to wallet and browser warning lists, and report it to Cloudflare so the operator's real hosting can be traced.
