skinfortnite.com is an impersonation phishing page aimed at Fortnite players. It presents itself as "Fortnite Rank & Locker Value Checker – Free Tool | Skinfortnite." PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-14. As of 2026-10-19 its DNS was inactive, so the page was not loading, but the domain is still registered and could be pointed at a server again.
How the scam works
The page title advertises a harmless free utility that estimates a player's rank and the value of their skin locker. We classify the site as impersonation phishing. Lures of this kind usually ask the player to sign in with their game account to run the check, and that login page sends the username, password and sometimes a 2FA code to the operator. A stolen Fortnite account can be stripped of rare skins and resold, and any payment methods saved on the account are put at risk.
Evidence
On 2026-09-22, VirusTotal showed 6 of 89 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, Bfore.Ai PreCrime, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but the vendors are independent of one another and include several that specialise in spotting newly registered malicious domains. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. PhishDestroy is the only blocklist in our set that lists it.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2026-09-05, just nine days before we detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains set up for a quick campaign. It was hosted in Turkey on the M/S ROBI TRADERS network. Its certificate was a free, automatically issued Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only meant the connection was encrypted and said nothing about whether the site was legitimate.
What to do
If you entered your Fortnite or Epic Games login on this site, change that password right away, and change it anywhere else you used the same one. Turn on two-factor authentication and sign out all other sessions from your account settings. Check your locker, purchase history and linked payment methods for changes you did not make, and contact Epic support if items or money are missing. Defenders should block the domain, watch for lookalike "skin" and "locker checker" domains, and warn gaming communities that legitimate tools never need your account password.
