Overview

portal.hyd828.com presented itself as the Campanile PRIME Lyon Centre - Gare Perrache, a hotel next to Lyon's Perrache station. It targeted travelers who believed they were booking or confirming a room there. The page sat on a "portal" subdomain of an unrelated, randomly named domain, not on any address belonging to the hotel chain. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-30. The site went offline on 2026-09-09 and its DNS was still inactive at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Hotel impersonation pages typically reach guests through links in messages that look like booking confirmations or urgent reservation notices. They copy the property's name and branding, and the page title here reproduced the hotel's full listing name. The victim is then asked to verify a reservation, settle a deposit or re-enter card details to avoid cancellation. What they lose is payment card data, and often personal and contact details that can be reused for follow-up fraud.

Evidence

On 2026-09-10, five of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: CRDF, LevelBlue, SOCRadar, Sophos and Webroot. That is a modest count, but these are independent vendors spanning threat-intelligence feeds and endpoint security. The PhishDestroy blocklist also carries the domain. Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. Its traffic ran through Cloudflare, Inc. at 188.114.97.3, geolocated to Canada. Because Cloudflare is a proxy, that address points to the network provider rather than the real origin server. Hosting a hotel lookalike on a generic domain's subdomain lets operators rotate pages quickly without registering brand-like names. The site lasted roughly ten days between first detection and going dark.
