How the scam works
Netflix impersonation pages usually arrive through emails or texts claiming a subscription is on hold, a payment failed, or the account needs verification. The victim then lands on a sign-in screen styled like Netflix, enters their email and password, and is often asked to update card details next. Everything typed goes to the operators. They can then take over the streaming account, reuse the password on other services, and charge or resell the payment card.
Evidence
Seventeen of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-12, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, Criminal IP, DNS8 and the Vietnamese anti-scam project Chong Lua Dao. These flags come from a mix of major antivirus vendors and specialist phishing feeds, which supports the classification. urlscan.io independently returned a malicious verdict and recognized the Netflix brand. The domain is also listed on Phishunt alongside PhishDestroy.
Infrastructure
The Netflix name sits in a subdomain of gafiatechnologies.com, a parent domain unrelated to Netflix. That parent domain was registered through NameCheap, Inc. on 2025-03-26, more than eighteen months before the phishing page was detected. The site is hosted on the Contabo GmbH network in France and uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate. The padlock in the browser therefore shows only that the connection is encrypted, not that the site is legitimate.
What to do
If you signed in on this page, change your Netflix password immediately and change it anywhere else you reused it. Then sign out all devices from your real Netflix account settings and turn on two-step verification on your email account. If you entered card details, call your bank to block the card, and review recent charges for unfamiliar transactions. In the future, reach Netflix only by typing its official address yourself or using the app, never through a link in a message. Defenders should block the full hostname and the parent domain gafiatechnologies.com.
