PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

morph9.org is an impersonation phishing page aimed at crypto wallet users. MetaMask's and SEAL's blocklists both carry it, which places it squarely in the Web3 scam ecosystem. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-21. The site went offline on 2026-09-16, its content is now blocked by the provider, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page presented itself under the title "Service Status", and urlscan.io matched its look to generic Cloudflare-style branding rather than to a specific crypto project. That title shows a status or maintenance screen, while we classify the site as impersonation phishing. Pages like this borrow the appearance of a trusted service to make a routine-looking prompt seem legitimate. The prompt might be a wallet connection, a transaction signature or a recovery phrase. Whatever the victim hands over, whether a signed approval or a seed phrase, gives the operator a direct path to drain the wallet.

Evidence

On 2026-09-13, 7 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but ChainPatrol specializes in crypto threats, which matters here. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. Three AlienVault OTX pulses reference it, so other researchers tracked it independently.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. and served from Cloudflare, Inc. address space geolocated to Canada. Because Cloudflare fronts the site, the address reflects the proxy rather than the operator's actual server. That makes the provider-side block an effective way to cut off access. The certificate came from Google Trust Services (WE1), the standard automated issuance for Cloudflare-proxied sites, so the padlock says nothing about legitimacy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet or signed anything on morph9.org, review and revoke token approvals and permits granted around that time. Move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you are unsure what you approved. If you typed a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised: create a new one and transfer funds immediately, because revoking approvals will not help. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to wallet and browser blocklists. They should also search logs for visits after 2026-08-21 to identify users who may need follow-up.
