PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

koindextradeoption.com is an impersonation phishing site. Its name is built to read like a coin-trading and options brokerage, and it targets people looking to invest or trade crypto. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-02. As of 2026-10-19 the domain was still online, with its content served behind an access barrier.

How the scam works

Sites of this type copy the look and language of a legitimate trading service, then ask visitors to register, log in and fund an account. Victims typically lose any deposit they send, along with the email, password and personal details entered during sign-up. When someone tries to withdraw, these schemes usually invent taxes, unlock charges or withdrawal fees to extract more money. urlscan.io matched the page to a generic scam template rather than a specific brand. The page currently returns the title "403 Forbidden", while we classify the domain as an impersonation phishing page.

Evidence

Seven of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-02: alphaMountain.ai, Chong Lua Dao, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, Netcraft and Sophos. That count is modest, but these vendors are independent of one another and include established phishing-feed providers. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-03-12 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, roughly seven months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was either held in reserve or ran quietly before drawing attention. It resolves to 23.153.104.17 on the Aquiryn LLC network in the United States, and its free Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a padlock in the browser. That padlock says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit funds or pay any fee the site demands to release a balance, because those payments will not come back. If you signed up, change that password everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication on your email and exchange accounts. If you sent money by card or bank transfer, contact your bank immediately and report the fraud to your national cybercrime authority. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at DNS and proxy level and add it to mail and web filters.
