Its page title reads "India Economic Forum 2022 - SKOCH India Economic Forum", which makes it a lure for people expecting to register, sponsor or be recognised at that event. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still resolves, but its page content no longer loads.
How the scam works
Fake event pages copy the branding of a real forum so that visitors trust a registration, nomination or partnership process run by someone else. Typical asks include delegate or nomination fees, card or bank details, ID documents, and work email logins, all of which go straight to the operator. A page labelled for a 2022 event, on a domain registered in 2026, is unlikely to be serving that forum's real audience. Victims stand to lose any fees paid and the personal or account data they submit.
Evidence
On 2026-09-29, 15 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. That is a meaningful minority, and it includes established vendors such as BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai and the Vietnamese anti-scam project Chong Lua Dao. The domain also appears in five AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it independently. Among blocklists, it is currently listed by PhishDestroy.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through NAMECHEAP INC on 2026-03-09, roughly six months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was kept in reserve or reused rather than spun up for a single burst. It resolves to 188.114.97.3, an address located in the US, and carries a free Let's Encrypt certificate. The padlock in the browser therefore says nothing about who runs the site.
What to do
