PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

essschools.com is an impersonation phishing page. It borrows the identity of a legitimate organisation to win visitors' trust and collect their information. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-10. On 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving content, so it remains an active risk. The page carries only the generic title "Home", which does not name a brand, while our classification is impersonation.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look, wording and layout of a real organisation, here presented under a bland "Home" landing page. Victims usually arrive through links in emails, messages or ads. The page then steers them toward a login form, a contact or registration form, or a payment step. Anything entered there goes straight to the operators, including account passwords, personal details or card data. They can reuse it to take over accounts, commit fraud or run follow-up scams against the victim.

Evidence

On 2026-09-18, 16 of 89 VirusTotal engines marked the domain as malicious. That is a solid minority for a site that does not advertise an obvious brand. The flagging vendors include ADMINUSLabs, alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and G-Data. The domain also appears in 10 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tied it to malicious activity independently. Among blocklists, it is currently listed by PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2023-07-16, roughly three years before PhishDestroy detected it. An older registration can lend a phishing site a credibility that fresh domains lack. Both the registration and the hosting run through Namecheap, with the site served from a Namecheap, Inc. network in the US. Its certificate is a domain-validated Sectigo certificate. The browser padlock therefore only confirms an encrypted connection, not who operates the site.

What to do

If you typed a password on essschools.com, change it at once on the genuine service and anywhere else you reused it. Then turn on two-factor authentication. If you entered card or bank details, call your bank to block the card and dispute any unfamiliar charges. If you shared personal information, be alert to follow-up calls or emails that quote it back to you. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies and search mail logs for links to it. Report sightings to the hosting provider and registrar so the live page can be taken down.
