How the scam works
Fake courier sites usually arrive through an SMS or email claiming a parcel is held, undeliverable or awaiting a small customs or redelivery fee. The link leads to a convincing DHL-branded "verification" step that asks for name, address and phone number, then payment card details to settle the supposed fee. What the victim loses is card data, which is used for fraudulent charges or follow-up calls posing as the bank, and personal details that fuel further targeted scams.
