PhishDestroy threat report
metaqmasklogin.wordpress.com is a credential phishing page impersonating MetaMask, set up as a free blog on WordPress.com. Its misspelled name, "metaqmask" instead of "metamask", is built to slip past a quick glance from MetaMask users searching for a way to sign in. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-26. The site has been offline since 2026-09-26, and the root page still served no content when last checked on 2026-10-19.
The page titled itself "Metamask Login | Login Into Account – Metamask Login", but MetaMask has no online account login. The wallet runs locally in your browser or phone and unlocks with a password stored on your device. Fake "login" pages like this one ask visitors to type in their wallet credentials, usually the Secret Recovery Phrase or private key. Whoever holds that phrase controls the wallet, so a victim who submits it can have their funds moved out without approving any transaction.
Eight of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the address as of 2026-08-31: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, ESET, G-Data, Kaspersky, Lionic and Sophos. The count is modest, but the vendors include a crypto-specific scanner and several major antivirus products. MetaMask's own blocklist lists the site, as do SEAL and PhishDestroy. A listing from the impersonated brand itself is strong confirmation.
The 2000-03-03 registration date and the registrar, Automattic Inc., belong to wordpress.com as a whole, not to this page. The operator only needed to create a free subdomain, which costs nothing and borrows the platform's trusted name and HTTPS. Hosting sits on Automattic's network in the US, the same infrastructure that serves millions of legitimate WordPress.com blogs. Blocking the IP address would therefore do nothing useful.
If you entered your Secret Recovery Phrase or private key here, treat the wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase on a clean device and move any remaining assets to it immediately. Never reuse the old phrase. If you only typed a password, change it anywhere you have reused it. Defenders should block the full subdomain rather than wordpress.com, report similar lookalike blogs to Automattic, and remind users that MetaMask never asks for a recovery phrase on a website.
