PhishDestroy threat report
fomo-ai.family was an impersonation phishing site whose name borrows the look of a crypto or AI project called "FOMO AI." Its presence on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists points to crypto wallet users as the intended victims. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and its DNS was still inactive when we last checked on 2026-10-19.
Impersonation pages copy the identity of a legitimate project so visitors trust them. They then ask for something only the real service should get, such as a wallet connection, a transaction signature, a seed phrase or login credentials. Here the page title was simply the bare domain name, with no product branding. The lure therefore relied on the domain name and the page content rather than a polished title. Victims of this kind of scheme typically lose wallet funds through malicious approvals or a stolen recovery phrase.
Seven of 90 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-04: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. Wallet-focused protection matters more for crypto users, and both MetaMask and SEAL list the site alongside PhishDestroy. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference the domain, so other researchers tracked it independently.
The domain was registered through Registrar.eu (Hosting Concepts B.V.) on 2026-08-24, only a week before PhishDestroy flagged it. It went dark about two and a half weeks after that. This short lifespan is typical of disposable phishing domains. The site sat behind Cloudflare, with the serving address geolocated to Canada, which hides the operator's actual origin server.
If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token-approval checker to revoke any permissions you granted. If you typed in a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised. Move the remaining assets to a new wallet created from a fresh phrase. If you entered a password anywhere on the page, change it and turn on two-factor authentication. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and watch for lookalike "fomo-ai" registrations, since operators often return under a new domain name.
