blackbirdfabricshq.shop is a fraudulent storefront copying Blackbird Fabrics, the Canadian online retailer of modern garment fabrics. It is aimed at home sewists and makers who search for that store and land on a lookalike address with an "HQ" suffix and a cheap .shop extension. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-16, and the site was still online and serving its shop content when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
The page presents itself as "Online Fabric Store Canada | Shop Modern Garment Fabrics | Blackbird Fabrics", borrowing the real retailer's name and positioning so that the catalogue looks trustworthy. Fake shops of this kind typically list popular fabrics at attractive prices, take payment at checkout, and then either ship nothing or send something worthless. Victims lose the money they paid. They also hand over their name, address, phone number and card details, which can be reused for further fraud.
Evidence
urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop, matching our classification. On VirusTotal, 5 of 92 engines flagged it as of 2026-10-16: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and LevelBlue. That count is low, so most browser and security tools may not yet warn visitors. The domain also appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-27, about four and a half months before it came to our attention. That gap suggests it was either held in reserve or quietly running before detection. It is hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia, an unusual home for a store presenting itself as a Canadian fabric retailer. The Let's Encrypt certificate only provides the padlock icon and says nothing about who runs the site.
What to do
Do not place orders on blackbirdfabricshq.shop. If you already paid, contact your card issuer or bank right away to dispute the charge and request a replacement card. Keep any order confirmations or emails as evidence. Expect phishing messages that use the details you entered, and change any password you created on the site if you reuse it elsewhere. Defenders and payment providers should block the domain, and Blackbird Fabrics customers should be reminded to reach the store only through its official site.
