PhishDestroy threat report
audiotechnicastudio.shop is a fake online store dressed up as the Colombian outlet of Audio-Technica, the Japanese maker of headphones, microphones and turntables. Its page title, "Audio-Technica en Colombia | Audio-Technica Colombia", shows it is aimed at Spanish-speaking shoppers in Colombia who believe they are buying from the brand directly. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-08. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still resolves, but the storefront content was unreachable.
Fake brand shops copy a manufacturer's name, logos and product photos, then list popular items at prices well below normal retail to rush buyers into checking out. The victim enters a delivery address, phone number and card details, or pays by bank transfer. In the usual outcome, the order never arrives, or a cheap counterfeit shows up in its place. The payment and personal data stay with the operators and can be reused for further fraud. The "studio" in the domain name and the cheap .shop extension are typical of these lookalike storefronts, which have no connection to Audio-Technica.
urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically marked it as a fake shop, which matches our classification. On VirusTotal, 9 of 92 engines flagged it as of 2026-10-11, including BitDefender, ESET, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Gridinsoft and LevelBlue. That count is modest, but it comes from several unrelated vendors that reached the same verdict independently. The domain also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, and PhishDestroy lists it on its own blocklist.
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-25, about four and a half months before PhishDestroy caught it. That gap suggests the operators let it sit before going live, or that it ran quietly for a while. The site is hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia, which is far from the Colombian audience it targets. That makes no sense for a real local brand outlet.
If you ordered from this site, contact your bank or card issuer at once to dispute the charge and ask for a replacement card. Report any bank transfer to your bank and to local police without delay. Watch your phone and email for follow-up scams that use the details you entered, such as fake delivery notices or refund offers. To buy Audio-Technica gear in Colombia, go through the authorized dealers listed on the brand's official site. Security teams should block the domain, add it to web filters, and alert retail and marketplace partners about lookalike Audio-Technica storefronts.
