PhishDestroy threat report
apexlayer.shop is a fraudulent storefront that copies MagBak, using the brand's tagline "Maximum Functionality, Minimalist Design" as its page title. It targets shoppers looking for MagBak's magnetic phone cases and accessories at a discount. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-10-07. It was still online and serving its shop pages when last checked on 2026-10-19.
Fake shops like this clone a real brand's look and slogans, then advertise steep discounts through social media ads or search results. The buyer goes through a normal-looking checkout and enters card details, name, address and phone number. What follows is usually nothing at all, a cheap item unrelated to the order, or a fake tracking number that never resolves. The victim loses the purchase price, and the stolen card and personal details can be reused for further fraud.
On 2026-10-10, seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and SOCRadar. That count is modest, so many browsers and security tools will still load the site without a warning. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically tagged the page as a fake shop. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-21, about four and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. This suggests it was set up in advance or rotated in after other storefronts were taken down. It is hosted on a network belonging to Malakmadze Web LLC, which is registered in Georgia, while the server's IP geolocates to the United States. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate gives the site a browser padlock, which proves nothing about whether the shop is legitimate.
If you ordered from apexlayer.shop, contact your card issuer or bank now. Report the charge as fraud, request a chargeback and ask for a replacement card. If you paid by PayPal, open a dispute there. Treat the email address and phone number you entered as exposed, and expect follow-up phishing about "delivery problems" or refunds. Buy MagBak products only through the brand's own store or authorised retailers. Defenders should block the domain, add it to web filters and report it to the relevant fraud-reporting services.
