How the scam works
Fake "verified link" directories exploit the fact that darknet market addresses change often and are hard to confirm. Visitors trust the page's claim of verification and follow its addresses to cloned login pages. Those clones capture usernames, passwords and sometimes 2FA or PGP details, which can be used to hijack real accounts. They also show deposit addresses controlled by the operators, so any cryptocurrency sent to fund an account goes straight to them. Because these payments are irreversible and victims rarely report them, losses are almost never recovered.
Evidence
On 2026-10-02, 7 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, SOCRadar, VIPRE and Webroot. That count is modest, but it comes from seven unrelated vendors. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
