PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

cibit-v2.online is an impersonation phishing site. Its name presents it as a second version of a service called "cibit", a common lure that suggests an upgrade or migration users are expected to follow. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-14, five days after registration. The site has been offline since 2026-10-16, and its DNS was still inactive when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy a familiar service closely enough that visitors act without checking the address. A "v2" domain usually comes with a story about a new platform, a migration or a relaunch. The victim is then asked to log in, enter recovery details, or connect a wallet and sign transactions, which hands over account access or funds. The page title shows only the bare domain name, so it gives no hint of which brand or kit was used.

Evidence

On 2026-10-14, none of the 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. That result reflects how new the site was, not that it was safe. Several specialist sources did flag it. MetaMask and the SEAL security alliance list it alongside PhishDestroy, and Spamhaus DBL classifies it as phishing (DBL_PHISH). Listings from wallet- and crypto-focused sources point to an operation aimed at crypto users.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-09 through REG.RU and hosted on REG.RU's own network (AS197695) in Russia. The site went live, was caught, and disappeared within about a week, a lifespan typical of disposable phishing domains. Its TLS certificate was self-issued with a placeholder "XX" country field rather than coming from a public certificate authority. Browsers would have shown visitors a security warning.

What to do

If you entered a password or recovery phrase on this site, treat that account or wallet as compromised. Change the password and reset 2FA on the genuine service. If a seed phrase was exposed, move funds to a new wallet created from scratch. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals using a trusted approval checker. Security teams should block the domain and watch for new "cibit" variants on fresh registrations, since a dead domain is often replaced quickly.
