PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

tongadivelive.programmers.us is an impersonation phishing page hosted on a subdomain of programmers.us. It presented itself under the title "Tongadive – Deepdive into Technology.", the look of a harmless technology blog, while PhishDestroy classified it as impersonation phishing. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-24. The site has been offline since 2026-10-14 and was still unreachable at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages borrow the identity of a site or service people already trust, then use that trust to ask for something valuable: login credentials, contact or payment details, or, on crypto-themed lures, a wallet recovery phrase. A believable front lowers the visitor's guard before the request appears. The tech-blog title is what the page showed. The classification rests on the page's behaviour and on independent social-engineering verdicts, not on its headline. Anything typed into such a page goes straight to the operator.

Evidence

Google Safe Browsing labelled the site SOCIAL_ENGINEERING, the category browsers use to warn users away from deceptive pages. On 2026-10-03, VirusTotal showed 7 of 91 engines flagging it: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, but the vendors are independent of one another and agree with Google's verdict. PhishDestroy lists the domain on its own blocklist.

Infrastructure

The page ran on a subdomain under a shared parent domain rather than a dedicated registration. That lets an operator set up quickly and discard the site just as fast. It was served from an IP on Oracle Corporation's network in the US. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gave it a browser padlock, which only means the connection was encrypted, not that the site was legitimate. The site went offline roughly three weeks after PhishDestroy first saw it.

What to do

If you entered a password on this site, change it now, along with any account that reuses it, and turn on two-factor authentication. If you typed a wallet recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move your funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you shared card or banking details, contact your bank to block the card and watch your statements. Defenders should block the full hostname and check proxy and DNS logs for visits since 2026-09-24. Also watch for new lookalike subdomains under the same parent domain.

Recommendations & Advice for Victims

Choose the steps that match what you shared. Keep a copy of this report alongside your own records.

What should I do immediately?

Urgent

Stop using the suspicious site. Open the real service through its official app or an address you already trust.

  • Change all passwords — email, exchange accounts, anything that shares the same password
  • Enable 2FA using an authenticator app (not SMS). Disable SMS-based recovery
  • Freeze cards if you entered banking details on the phishing site

What information should I collect for my report?

FBI guidelines

Keep original emails, receipts, messages and screenshots in a secure place. A factual timeline helps the receiving authority understand what happened. IC3 evidence guidance ↗

  • Payment records — if you paid, save the receipt, amount, date, payment provider and recipient details.
  • Exact dates & times — of each transaction and first contact with scammer
  • Screenshots — scam website, chat messages, emails, wallet transactions, social media
  • All URLs & domains used by the scammer (including tongadivelive.programmers.us)
  • Communications — emails, texts, phone numbers, usernames the scammer used

Even if you don't have all details — file a report anyway. Partial information still helps investigations.

Where should I report the scam?

  • FBI IC3 — Internet Crime Complaint Center (US federal reporting)
  • Europol — European cybercrime reporting (EU)
  • Your bank or payment provider — contact its fraud team promptly through official contact details if money or card information was exposed.
  • Local police — creates an official record, even if they can't act immediately

A report is not a guarantee of recovery or investigation, but prompt, accurate transaction data can help authorities and service providers trace the incident.

How do phishing scams typically work?

  • Fake websites — pixel-perfect clones of legitimate sites with slightly altered domains
  • Pig butchering — trust built over weeks via Telegram/WhatsApp/dating apps, then money stolen
  • Recovery scams — fraudsters pose as recovery agents and demand upfront fees. Never share a seed phrase or pay before independently verifying the provider
  • AI-powered scams — deepfakes, automated phishing, and AI-generated sites making fraud harder to detect

How can I protect myself in the future?

  • Bookmark official sites — never click links from emails, DMs, or ads
  • Verify domains — check on PhishDestroy before interacting. Check HTTPS, spelling, domain age
  • "Too good to be true" = scam — guaranteed returns, celebrity endorsements, urgent deadlines
