Overview

PhishDestroy’s intake AI classified ethcom.xyz as malicious because the page claims to be an “Official Community Airdrop” for Tether ERC‑20 and promises 500 USDT to anyone who connects a wallet. The recorded page title reads “Tether ERC-20 Official Community Airdrop | 500 USDT”. The domain was first seen by PhishDestroy on 2026-10-27, nine days after its registration, and returned an HTTP 200 response on that date.

How the scam works

In this category of fraud, attackers copy a well‑known cryptocurrency brand’s name and logo, advertise a free token airdrop, and lure victims into connecting their wallets. Once a wallet is linked, the site can request token approvals that allow the attacker to transfer the victim’s assets without further interaction. The promise of a guaranteed reward, such as 500 USDT, is used to increase the likelihood of user consent.
