PhishDestroy threat report
ctba.online posed as Citibank, serving a page titled "Home - Citibank" to lure the bank's customers into handing over their account access. PhishDestroy first saw the domain on 2026-09-09, the same day it was registered. The site went offline on 2026-09-11, and as of 2026-10-19 the domain no longer resolves in DNS.
Bank impersonation pages copy the look of the real institution's homepage and sign-in flow so a visitor arriving from a text message, email or ad believes they are on the genuine site. Whatever is typed into the fake login, such as user ID, password, and often one-time codes, card details or security answers, goes straight to the operators. They can then log in to the real account, move money or reuse the details for further fraud. The short, garbled domain name is the kind that is easy to overlook on a phone screen next to a convincing "Citibank" page title.
VirusTotal recorded 17 of 89 engines flagging the domain on 2026-09-10, one day after it appeared. The flagging vendors included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, Certego, CRDF and CyRadar. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and matched the page to its generic banking brand category. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so several independent analysts tracked it during its brief life.
The domain was registered through Global Domain Group LLC on 2026-09-09 and was caught that same day. It was dead within roughly 48 hours, which fits a throwaway domain meant for a short, fast campaign. It was hosted on the NEW DHAKA HARDWARE network in Bangladesh, at 163.61.188.9, an unusual location for a page claiming to be a major US bank. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gave the page a padlock icon, which shows only that the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site.
If you entered Citibank credentials on this site, change your password immediately through the official Citi app or the address you normally type yourself. Review and reset your two-factor settings, and call Citi using the number on your card to report the exposure and check for unfamiliar transfers, payees or linked devices. If you entered card numbers or PINs, ask the bank to cancel and reissue the card. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP, search mail and proxy logs for visits since 2026-09-09, and force password resets for any users who reached it.
No. PhishDestroy classifies ctba.online as a phishing page (risk: critical, 100/100); it was first detected on 2026-09-09. VirusTotal: 17/89 engines flag it. Treat the site as unsafe.
No. Do not connect a wallet, sign messages or approve tokens on ctba.online. Phishing sites ask for approvals (approve, setApprovalForAll, Permit2) that let the operator move your assets, and a confirmed transaction cannot be reversed.
Change every password you entered there and turn on two-factor authentication. If you connected a wallet or signed something, revoke the approvals and move the remaining funds to a new wallet; never share your seed phrase. Step-by-step help: emergency guide.
