PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

webmail-roundcubes.ktexim.pro is an impersonation phishing page built to look like a webmail login. Its hostname borrows the name of Roundcube, the open-source webmail client many hosting providers and companies use. It targets people who receive mail through such portals. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-16, and it went offline the next day: the site has been dead with inactive DNS since 2026-10-17, as confirmed on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Lures of this kind usually arrive as emails warning of a full mailbox, a pending message or an expiring password, with a link to a page that mimics the victim's webmail sign-in. Whatever is typed into the fake form goes straight to the operators, who can then read the inbox, reset passwords on linked services, including exchange and wallet accounts, and send further phishing from a trusted address. urlscan.io matched the page to a generic email login template rather than one named provider, which fits a kit meant to pass as any organisation's mail portal. When last captured, the page returned the title "403 Forbidden", which differs from the impersonation classification we assigned.

Evidence

urlscan.io rated the site malicious and identified the email-login branding. On VirusTotal, only 2 of 92 engines, CRDF and DNS8, flagged it on 2026-10-16. That low count reflects how quickly the page was caught and taken offline, not a clean bill of health. Among blocklists, it is listed by PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The ktexim.pro domain was registered on 2026-05-11 through HOSTINGER operations, UAB, roughly five months before the phishing subdomain was detected. That gap suggests a domain held in reserve or reused, rather than one registered on the day of the campaign. Traffic ran through Cloudflare's network in the US, which hides the origin server behind a shared proxy address.

What to do

If you entered your email password on this page, change it right away from your provider's genuine login. Do the same on any other account that shared that password. Turn on two-factor authentication, sign out all active sessions, and check your mailbox for forwarding rules or filters you did not create. Watch for password-reset emails from exchanges or other services you use. Defenders should block the hostname, search mail logs for messages linking to it, and reset credentials for any user who clicked through.
