PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

nexongs.com is a fake login portal impersonating Nexo, the crypto lending and earning platform, and is aimed at Nexo customers who might sign in to check balances or move funds. Its page is titled "Account Login - Nexo Global Bank", dressing the platform up as a bank to look authoritative. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11. As of 2026-10-19 the domain was still alive and serving a redirect, so it remains a live risk.

How the scam works

Victims land on the page through a link in an email, ad or message and see what looks like the Nexo sign-in screen. Anything typed there, including email, password and often a one-time 2FA code, goes straight to the operators. With a fresh code they can log in to the real Nexo account within minutes, change security settings and withdraw the crypto held there. The loss is the account itself and every asset in it.

Evidence

Fourteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain by 2026-09-21, among them BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and Ermes. That is broad agreement from unrelated vendors rather than a single outlier. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and specifically recognized Nexo branding on it. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, it appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, and it is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-10 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown and was caught by PhishDestroy the very next day. A launch that fast points to a site created specifically for a phishing run. It is hosted in the US on the NEW DHAKA HARDWARE network. It carries a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock proves only an encrypted connection, not that the site belongs to Nexo.

What to do

If you entered credentials on this page, sign in to Nexo through its official app or a bookmarked address and change your password at once, then reset 2FA and log out all other sessions. Review recent withdrawals, whitelisted addresses and security changes, and contact Nexo support immediately if anything looks unfamiliar. Change the password anywhere else you reused it. Defenders should block nexongs.com at DNS, proxy and mail gateways and search logs for users who visited it after 2026-09-10.
