PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

fortniteskinsfree.com is an impersonation phishing page built around the promise of free Fortnite skins. It targets players, many of them young, who are hunting for cosmetic items without paying. PhishDestroy first saw the domain on 2026-10-06. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving content.

How the scam works

Free-skin lures follow a familiar script. The visitor is told a rare outfit or in-game currency is waiting, then asked to sign in with their game account, complete a so-called verification step, or enter personal details to claim it. The reward never arrives, and the operator walks away with the login, which can be used to hijack the account, strip its items, or misuse saved payment methods. The page announces itself only with the title "Loading", a placeholder that shows nothing of the giveaway theme its domain name advertises.

Evidence

Seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-11: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, but the flags come from independent vendors that reached their verdicts separately. Spamhaus lists the domain on its Domain Block List as spam, so mail filters that rely on it will already reject messages promoting it. The domain appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-09-26 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, ten days before PhishDestroy flagged it. That short gap fits a site that was set up for a quick campaign and was never meant to last. The server sits on a network registered to M/S Robi Traders in Bangladesh, but the address geolocates to Finland. The free Let's Encrypt certificate means the padlock icon proves nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you signed in on this site, change your Epic Games password right away, along with any other account that shares that password. Turn on two-factor authentication, review recent logins and purchases, and remove any payment methods you do not recognize. If you gave out personal details, watch for follow-up messages that use them to sound legitimate. Parents should remind children that free skins are not handed out through outside websites. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and web proxies and add it to email filtering.
