PhishDestroy threat report
schwbai.com is an impersonation phishing page that presented itself as an official tax notice from the Indian government. Its page title, in Hindi, reads "कर दंड सूचना - भारत सरकार" ("Tax Penalty Notice - Government of India"), so it was aimed at Hindi-speaking taxpayers in India. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-27. It went offline on 2026-09-28, and as of 2026-10-19 the domain no longer resolves.
Fake penalty notices work through fear and urgency. The victim is told they owe a tax fine and must act now to avoid escalation, such as legal action or a frozen account. The page then asks them to "verify" their identity or pay the penalty. That typically means handing over tax ID and identity numbers, bank login details, card data or a UPI payment. The victim loses the money paid toward the fake penalty, and the stolen details can later be used for account takeover or further fraud.
VirusTotal flagged the domain on 2026-09-27 with 14 of 91 engines. The detecting vendors included BitDefender, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, ADMINUSLabs, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF and CyRadar. Several of these run independent web-threat feeds, so the verdict does not rest on a single source. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL under the phishing category, and it is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2025-12-31, about nine months before it surfaced as a phishing page. That gap suggests it was held in reserve before the campaign went live. It was hosted on Zenlayer's network at an address located in Hong Kong, far from the Indian audience it targeted. The site stayed up for only about a day after detection.
If you entered your tax ID, identity numbers or bank login on this page, change your banking passwords and turn on two-factor authentication. Watch your accounts for unfamiliar activity. If you paid a "penalty" by card or UPI, contact your bank immediately to dispute the transaction, and report the fraud through India's national cybercrime reporting channels. Real tax notices arrive through official government portals, never through unfamiliar domains. Defenders should block schwbai.com and its hosting IP and search mail and proxy logs for earlier visits. They should also watch for similar Hindi-language government penalty lures, which often reappear on fresh domains.
