Overview

recompense-dofus.fr is a phishing site impersonating DOFUS, the tactical MMORPG, and is aimed at its players. The domain name uses the French word for "reward," which suits a fake giveaway or compensation offer. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-16. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors.

How the scam works

The page uses the title "DOFUS, the Tactical MMORPG" to pass as an official game page. Scams of this kind usually promise players a reward, compensation or in-game gift, then send them to a login form that copies the real one. Whatever the player types there goes straight to the operators. With those credentials they can take over the game account and strip it of characters, items and in-game currency. If the player uses the same password elsewhere, those other accounts are at risk too.

Evidence

On VirusTotal, 5 of 92 engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and SOCRadar. That is a low count, but it agrees with the other signals. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and detected the DOFUS brand on it. Spamhaus DBL lists the domain as spam, it appears in 4 AlienVault OTX pulses, and it is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-12 through Dynadot Inc, four days before PhishDestroy detected it. It resolves to 45.61.183.98 on the RouterHosting LLC network in the United States. Its TLS certificate comes from Let's Encrypt (YR2), so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you entered your DOFUS login on this site, change the password right away from the official game client or website. Turn on two-factor authentication, and change the password on any other service where you used the same one. Check your account for unfamiliar characters, missing items or new linked email addresses, and report the theft to official game support. Only claim rewards through the game itself, never through links shared in chat, forums or email. Defenders should block the domain and its IP address, add it to DNS and web filters, and warn gaming communities about fake reward pages using the DOFUS name.
