Overview

play.foldwin.com is a phishing page that poses as a legitimate service to lure cryptocurrency users. urlscan.io tagged it as a crypto scam, and its "play" subdomain fits the gaming and rewards style these lures often use. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-29. On 2026-10-19 its DNS was inactive, so the page content was unreachable, but the domain itself remains registered and could be pointed at a server again.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this copy the look of a trusted crypto platform so visitors believe they are using the real service. The visitor is then pushed to connect a wallet, sign a transaction, enter a seed phrase, or send a deposit to unlock winnings or rewards. Any of these steps can hand control of funds to the operators. A signed approval or a revealed recovery phrase lets them empty the wallet, and transfers sent to them cannot be reversed.

Evidence

On 2026-10-01, 15 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is a broad spread of unrelated vendors. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict with a crypto-scam brand match. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist as phishing, and ScamSniffer, a feed focused on Web3 fraud, blocks it alongside PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-09 through Fewmoretaps OU, trading as Trustname.com, 51 days before PhishDestroy flagged it. That gap suggests it was set up in advance and then put to use. The site was hosted in Germany on the FEMO IT SOLUTIONS LIMITED network. It used a free, automatically issued Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock icon only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is trustworthy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet here, use a token-approval checker to revoke any permissions you granted. Then move remaining assets to a new wallet. If you typed a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and stop using it. Do not pay any "fee" or deposit promised to release funds, because it only adds to the loss. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and watch for it returning to life, since the registration is still active.
