PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

nixxcreditunion.co.uk calls itself "NIXX Credit Union | Affordable Financial Services" and uses a .co.uk address to look like a British member-owned lender. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-07, three days after the domain was registered, and it is now on our blocklist. As of 2026-10-19 the site is online and still serving content, so anyone searching for cheap loans or savings accounts could land on it today.

How the scam works

The page title is the clearest signal. It promises affordable financial services under a credit union name that appeared only days before it was flagged. Sites built this way usually ask visitors for personal and banking details, identity documents or an upfront fee as part of a loan or membership application. The risk is identity theft, money lost to fees for credit that never arrives, and stolen banking credentials. We have not tied it to a specific scheme, so treat any form or payment request on this site as untrusted.

Evidence

Five of 92 VirusTotal engines flag the domain as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and SOCRadar. That is a low count, but these are five unrelated vendors reaching the same verdict independently. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as a spam domain, which suggests it has been promoted through unsolicited messages. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, and PhishDestroy lists it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-04 through Hosting Concepts B.V. and drew attention within three days. Real credit unions are regulated institutions with long-standing domains, so a three-day-old one is a red flag on its own. The site runs on 92.60.77.60 on the HOSTMENOW LTD network, which is registered in Great Britain but geolocated to the Netherlands. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a padlock, but the padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

Do not apply for a loan, open an account or pay any fee through this site. If you entered bank or card details, contact your bank at once to block the card and watch for unauthorised transactions. If you shared identity documents or your National Insurance number, consider a fraud marker with a credit reference agency. Change any password you reused on the site. Security teams should block the domain and IP at the gateway and filter mail that mentions this credit union name.
