PhishDestroy threat report
microsoftupdater.info is a credential phishing site that uses Microsoft's name and the idea of a software update to win trust. It targets people who use Microsoft accounts for email, Office or Windows sign-in. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-13. On 2026-10-19 the domain was still online and redirecting visitors elsewhere.
Domains framed as an "updater" usually appear in links that claim a security patch or account update is required. The victim then lands on a Microsoft-style sign-in prompt, and the email address and password typed there go straight to the operators. With those credentials an attacker can take over mailboxes, reset passwords on linked services and use the account to phish the victim's contacts. The page itself currently carries the title "Page Not Found", while our classification is credential phishing.
21 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-10-13. That is a substantial share for a site this new, and the detections come from independent vendors including BitDefender, ESET, Emsisoft, Certego, CRDF, CyRadar, alphaMountain.ai and Chong Lua Dao. Spamhaus lists it in its DBL under the botnet category, which ties the domain to malicious infrastructure beyond a single phishing page. It also appears on the PhishDestroy and CryptoFirewall blocklists and in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
The domain was registered on 2026-06-16 through Turkticaret.net, about four months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it may have been held in reserve before use. It is hosted in Turkey on the HOSTABIL CAFER ESER network. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives it a browser padlock, which proves nothing about who runs the site.
If you entered a Microsoft email and password on this site, change that password immediately from the official Microsoft account page. Change it anywhere else you reused it too. Then review your account's recent sign-in activity, remove any unfamiliar devices, app passwords or mail-forwarding rules, and turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app. If you downloaded anything presented as an update, run a full malware scan. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and the proxy, search mail and web logs for any contact with it, and force credential resets for any users who reached it.

This report combines saved page captures, registration and network records, scanner results and PhishDestroy reporting history. Each source keeps its own observation date. Open a source report to inspect the original result.

A capture documents what was shown. A scanner result records that provider’s assessment at the time of its check. Neither a valid certificate nor a zero-detection result is a guarantee of safety.
