ledgerr-startt.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page built to look like Ledger's official onboarding portal. Its title reads "Get started with Ledger — Ledger.com/start", and the doubled letters in the subdomain are meant to pass a quick glance from someone setting up a new hardware wallet. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31. The site has been offline since 2026-09-13, its content was blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still down at the last check on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
Fake Ledger setup pages exploit the moment a new owner is most willing to follow instructions. The lure mimics the real start page, then walks the visitor toward a step that hands over control, typically a form asking for the 24-word recovery phrase or a download of a counterfeit companion app that requests it. Anyone who has the recovery phrase can rebuild the wallet on their own device and empty it. The hardware wallet gives no protection once the phrase is typed into a website.
Evidence
On 2026-09-13, seven of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the page: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Fortinet, G-Data, Kaspersky, LevelBlue and Sophos. That count is modest, but it comes from several unrelated vendors, and urlscan.io independently returned a malicious verdict and recognised the Ledger branding. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users relying on those lists are warned.
Infrastructure
The page ran as a free subdomain on Cloudflare Pages, served from Cloudflare, Inc. infrastructure with a Canadian IP location. The registration date on file is 2025-09-30, about eleven months before PhishDestroy flagged the page. Free static-hosting subdomains like this can be launched in minutes and inherit the reputation of a widely trusted platform, which is why the provider block mattered for shutting it down.
What to do
If you typed your recovery phrase into this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new device or reset your Ledger with a fresh phrase, then move remaining funds to the new addresses immediately. If you installed software from the page, remove it and scan the machine. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase online, and the only legitimate setup route is the one printed in the box and on the official site typed by hand. Defenders should block the domain and watch for lookalike Ledger subdomains on free hosting platforms.
