kucoin9.com is a phishing page that poses as the KuCoin cryptocurrency exchange, down to a page title that simply reads "KuCoin". It targets KuCoin account holders who might mistake the added "9" for a regional or backup address. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still resolves, but its page content no longer loads.
How the scam works
Lookalike exchange domains like this one copy the real KuCoin sign-in flow so that visitors enter their email, password and two-factor codes on a page the attackers control. With those details, operators can log in to the real account in real time, change security settings and withdraw balances before the owner notices. Some variants also ask for a deposit to "verify" or "unlock" the account, and that money goes straight to the scammers. Victims stand to lose their exchange login, their 2FA protection and any crypto held on the account.
Evidence
Eighteen of 89 VirusTotal engines flag the domain as of 2026-09-23. They include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, AlphaSOC, CRDF and CyRadar, so the warning comes from several unrelated vendors. Google Safe Browsing lists it under SOCIAL_ENGINEERING, the category used for deceptive phishing pages. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and recognized KuCoin branding on the page. The domain appears in six AlienVault OTX threat pulses and is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-08-30, just 16 days before PhishDestroy caught it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains that are set up quickly, used and abandoned. It was registered through Cloudflare, Inc. and sits behind Cloudflare's network, with the visible address geolocating to Canada. Because Cloudflare acts as a proxy, that address belongs to Cloudflare's edge servers and does not reveal where the phishing content is actually hosted.
What to do
If you entered KuCoin credentials on this site, change your KuCoin password from the official app or a bookmarked address right away. Reset your two-factor authentication, sign out all active sessions and review your login history and withdrawal records. Delete any API keys you did not create, turn on a withdrawal address whitelist and anti-phishing code, and contact KuCoin support if you see unauthorized activity. If you reused that password anywhere else, change it there too. Never send a "verification" deposit requested by a site you reached through a link.
