Overview

PhishDestroy’s automated intake on 2026-10-23 marked hype-inc.com.cn as malicious because VirusTotal reported a malicious detection for the domain. The internal AI assessment noted that the recorded page title and excerpt claim the site is the “HYPE Token – Hyperliquid Native Cryptocurrency,” which impersonates the legitimate Hyperliquid exchange and advertises an unaffiliated token. An HTTP 200 response was recorded for the domain on the same date, confirming the page was reachable at that time.

How the scam works

Brand impersonation combined with a fabricated native token is a common crypto‑fraud pattern that convinces users they can invest, stake or trade a legitimate‑looking asset, often prompting them to send funds or grant wallet permissions. Victims are typically lured by promises of governance rights, high returns or exclusive access tied to the fake token.

Evidence

VirusTotal scanned the domain on 2026-10-22 (retrieved 2026-10-23) and returned three detections: one malicious label from Scantitan and two suspicious labels from Fortinet and alphaMountain.ai out of 92 engines. Google Safe Browsing checked on 2026-10-23 reported no threat. External blocklists MetaMask and SEAL listed the domain on 2026-10-23, and Spamhaus DBL marked it as spam on the same day. URLScan captured the site on 2026-10-20 with a clean verdict, while a later capture on 2026-10-23 assigned a malicious machine‑learning score of 84. OTX recorded four pulses referencing the domain on 2026-10-23.
