PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

gotcapitalltd.com presents itself as Gotcapital Ltd, a "one stop investement solution" for Bitcoin, and PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page. It targets people looking to grow crypto savings through a managed investment service. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-23. It was still online with its content live on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page title, "Welcome | Gotcapital Ltd - One stop investement solution | BTC", frames the site as a corporate investment firm, with the misspelling sitting in its own headline. Schemes of this type ask visitors to open an account and fund it in BTC. A dashboard then shows growing balances that exist only on screen. When the victim tries to withdraw, new "fees," "taxes" or upgrade deposits appear, and money sent to the platform is generally unrecoverable.

Evidence

On 2026-10-01, 10 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Lionic. That is a minority of engines, but the flags come from several unrelated vendors, which points to a real problem rather than a single false positive. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's own, so users of those wallets and tools may already see warnings.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-01-19 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, roughly eight months before PhishDestroy flagged it. That long run suggests an operation that took its time building a polished front before drawing attention. The site is hosted on InMotion Hosting, Inc. in the US and uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the business is legitimate.

What to do

Do not deposit anything further, and treat any request for a "withdrawal fee" or account-unlock payment as a continuation of the scam. If you sent BTC, write down the transaction IDs and the receiving addresses. Report them to your exchange and local law enforcement, and be wary of "recovery services" that contact you afterward. If you reused a password on the site, change it elsewhere and enable two-factor authentication. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and check logs for users who visited it.
