PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

fswap.io presents itself as Fswap, a cryptocurrency exchange promising low fees and great rates on crypto and altcoin swaps. Its audience is people looking for a quick place to convert coins. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-07-27 and placed it on our blocklist. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving content.

How the scam works

PhishDestroy has not yet assigned a specific scheme type, so there is no confirmed mechanism to describe. The risk comes from the format: an instant-swap exchange asks users to send coins first and trust the site to send back the converted asset. If the operator is not legitimate, funds sent to a deposit address are generally unrecoverable. Some sites of this kind also request extra payments or identity documents before releasing funds.

Evidence

Independent detection is limited. On VirusTotal, 4 of 89 engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-14: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a minority verdict, but it comes from several unrelated vendors. The domain also appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. PhishDestroy is the only blocklist known to carry it so far.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through NameCheap, Inc. on 2024-05-13, more than two years before PhishDestroy flagged it. That gap points to a long-running site rather than a throwaway domain. It is hosted on the StormWall s.r.o. network in Germany. Its certificate comes from Let's Encrypt, which only confirms the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the operator can be trusted.

What to do

Do not send new deposits to fswap.io. If a swap you already started has stalled, do not pay any extra fee, tax or verification charge that is presented as the way to release your funds. Save transaction hashes, deposit addresses and any messages with the site, then report the loss to the exchange or wallet you sent from and to local authorities. If you uploaded ID documents, watch for identity misuse and targeted follow-up scams. Defenders should block the domain, check DNS and proxy logs for visits, and keep an eye on vendor verdicts as detection coverage grows.
