fortonel.cc is an impersonation phishing site, built to pass itself off as a legitimate service so visitors trust it with sensitive information. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still responded, but its phishing content was no longer active. A dormant page like this can be switched back on, so the domain should still be treated as hostile.
How the scam works
Impersonation pages copy the look, wording and flow of a brand the victim already uses. Links arrive through ads, direct messages or search results. The page then asks the visitor to sign in, verify an account or connect a wallet, and whatever is entered goes straight to the operators. The page title is simply the domain name, so it offers no clue about which brand was being copied. Victims typically lose account access, recovery phrases or funds sent under false pretences.
Evidence
Six of 91 security engines on VirusTotal rated the domain malicious in a check on 2026-10-02. Those six were alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, LevelBlue and SOCRadar. That is a modest share, but it is a cluster of independent vendors reaching the same verdict. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as a spam source, which points to it being pushed through unsolicited messaging. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it, so other researchers have tracked it as part of wider activity. PhishDestroy carries it on its blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-07-15 through Global Domain Group LLC, about two months before PhishDestroy caught it. That gap is consistent with a domain set aside and then put into use for a campaign. It is hosted in Turkey on a network registered to M/S ROBI TRADERS. Its certificate comes from Let's Encrypt, so the padlock in the browser only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the site is honest.
What to do
If you entered a password on fortonel.cc, change it on the real service and on any account that reuses it. Then enable app-based two-factor authentication and sign out other active sessions. If you typed a recovery phrase or private key, consider that wallet compromised and move any remaining funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. Do not send money to anyone claiming they can recover losses, since that is a common follow-up scam. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP at DNS and proxy level and search mail and chat logs for links to it. They should also keep watching the domain, because it remains registered and could come back online.
