How the scam works
Fake verification schemes contact Facebook users, or lure them in, with an offer of a verified or premium badge. The victim is then sent to a page dressed up as Facebook that asks for their login, password and often a two-factor code, supposedly to confirm eligibility. With those credentials the attackers take over the account and can use it to run ads, scam the victim's contacts or resell the page. What to do
