How the scam works
Sites like this copy the look and language of a crypto platform, here branded "CoinP", so visitors believe they are on a legitimate service. Once trust is established, the page pushes the victim toward an action that hands over value. That can mean typing account credentials, sending a "deposit" to activate or unlock an account, or connecting a wallet and approving what is presented as a routine prompt. Anything entered or signed goes to the operators, and crypto sent this way is almost never recoverable.
Evidence
Fifteen of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain when it was checked on 2026-10-03. The flagging vendors include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai and CRDF. Google Safe Browsing classifies it as social engineering, which means many browsers will warn visitors before the page loads. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and tagged the page as a crypto scam. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain is listed by MetaMask and SEAL, two blocklists focused on crypto threats, and it appears in one AlienVault OTX threat pulse.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-09-07 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., just 16 days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap fits a domain bought specifically for this campaign rather than an older site that was compromised. Traffic runs through Cloudflare's network, with the visible address geolocated to Canada, so the real origin server is hidden behind the proxy. The certificate comes from Google Trust Services, which is routine and says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.
What to do
If you entered a username, password or 2FA code on this site, change that password on the real service right away. Reset 2FA and end any active sessions. If you sent funds as a deposit, do not send more to "unlock" or withdraw them, because those follow-up requests are part of the same theft. If you connected a wallet, revoke any approvals granted around that time with a token-approval checker, and move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. Security teams should block coinpssd.com at DNS and proxy level and watch for similarly constructed "coin" lookalike domains from the same period.
