PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

aoiap.org presents itself as AOIAP, the Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Andhra Pradesh. That puts ENT doctors, association members and patients looking for the regional body in its path. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page and first flagged it on 2026-10-08. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving content.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages borrow the name and look of a trusted organization so that visitors lower their guard. A site posing as a professional medical association can ask for member logins, registration details, conference or membership fees, or personal and professional information, all of which go to whoever controls the page. The page title, "AOIAP - Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Andhra Pradesh", matches the association's identity rather than a crypto brand. We classified the site as impersonation phishing.

Evidence

VirusTotal shows 13 of 92 engines flagging the domain as of 2026-10-08. The vendors include BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai, ADMINUSLabs and the Vietnamese anti-phishing group Chong Lua Dao. These are independent engines from different security ecosystems, which carries more weight than a single vendor's verdict. The domain also appears in 34 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tied it to malicious activity. Among the blocklists covered here, it is currently listed by PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through GoDaddy.com, LLC on 2018-05-07, more than eight years before PhishDestroy flagged it. Throwaway phishing domains are usually only days or weeks old, so that long history is unusual. The site is hosted in the United States on the SingleHop network, now part of Internap Holding LLC. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gives browsers a padlock, but that only shows the connection is encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site.

What to do

If you logged in or registered on aoiap.org, change that password immediately, along with any other account that uses the same one, and turn on two-factor authentication where it is offered. If you paid a membership, event or other fee through the site, contact your bank or card issuer to dispute the charge. Watch for follow-up emails or calls that use the association's name. Confirm any AOIAP request through contacts you already know are genuine, not through links or numbers on this page. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies and alert medical and academic staff who might receive AOIAP-themed messages.
