PhishDestroy threat report
zoomeventlive.com is an impersonation phishing page that copied Zoom and presented itself under the title "Zoom Client Update." Its targets were people who expected to join a Zoom meeting or live event and were told their client needed updating first. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-17. The site has been offline since 2026-09-22 and was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.
Fake "client update" pages use a familiar interruption: the visitor clicks an event or meeting link and is told Zoom must be updated before they can join. The domain name, which reads like an official live-events address, makes the prompt look plausible. Lures of this type generally push the victim to download and run an "update" or to sign in again with their Zoom or email credentials. Either path gives the operator what they want: control of the device, or a working login that can be reused or sold.
When PhishDestroy scanned the domain on 2026-09-17, 19 of 89 VirusTotal engines already rated it malicious. That is a strong showing for a site only a few days old. The vendors flagging it included BitDefender, ESET, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar and Ermes. The domain also appears in two AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers tracked it independently. It is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The domain was registered through Tucows Domains Inc. on 2026-09-14, three days before PhishDestroy detected it. The site went dark five days after detection, which fits a short campaign built to be used and then abandoned. Traffic ran through Cloudflare, Inc. on an address placed in Canada. Because Cloudflare is a proxy, that address hides where the content was actually hosted.
If you downloaded or ran anything from this site, disconnect the device, run a full malware scan, and consider reinstalling the operating system. Treat any crypto wallets, saved passwords and browser sessions on that machine as exposed. Move funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you entered a Zoom or email password, change it right away, turn on two-factor authentication, and sign out all active sessions. Defenders should block the domain, search DNS and proxy logs for past visits, and remind staff that genuine Zoom updates arrive only through the installed app or Zoom's official download page, never through a meeting link.
