PhishDestroy threat report
web-cowswap.com is a phishing site that impersonates CoW Swap, the intents-based DEX aggregator, and targets people looking to trade tokens through it. The hyphenated name with a "web-" prefix is built to pass as an official web version of the app. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-19. The site has been offline since 2026-10-16, and its DNS was still inactive when we last checked on 2026-10-19.
The page presented itself as "CoW Swap: Step-by-Step Guide to the Intents-Based DEX Aggregator". It was framed as a tutorial rather than a trading interface, but we classify the site as impersonation phishing. Lures of this kind guide visitors toward connecting a wallet and then ask for a token approval, a permit signature or a recovery phrase, presented as a routine step. Any of these can let the operators move the victim's tokens. CoW Swap users are used to signing off-chain orders, which makes an extra signature prompt look normal.
On 2026-09-29, 11 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft and Kaspersky. That count is modest, but the vendors are independent of each other. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet-side warnings were in place for many users. Spamhaus separately lists it in its domain blocklist as spam.
The domain was registered on 2026-08-19 through Fewmoretaps OU d/b/a Trustname.com, a month before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap is typical of a site set up to run quietly for a few weeks. It was hosted on SWISSNET LLC in the Netherlands. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gave it a browser padlock, which shows only that the connection was encrypted, not that the site was legitimate.
If you connected a wallet to this site, use a token-approval checker to revoke any allowances or permits granted during that session. If you typed in a seed phrase, treat the wallet as compromised and move your funds to a new wallet created with a fresh phrase. Reach CoW Swap only through bookmarks you saved yourself or links from its verified channels, never through search ads or lookalike names. Defenders should block the domain and look for similar hyphenated CoW Swap lookalikes in DNS and proxy logs, because the operators may return under a new name.
