Overview

PhishDestroy’s intake AI classified the site as malicious because it impersonates the Proton VPN brand, using the brand’s name, logo and marketing copy on a domain that does not belong to the official service. The domain was first seen by PhishDestroy on 2026-10-23, 107 days after its registration on 2026-07-08. A page fetch on 2026-10-23 returned HTTP 200 and displayed the recorded title “Proton VPN | Secure Swiss VPN & Free Privacy Protection”.

How the scam works

Brand‑impersonation scams create webpages that look like legitimate services to lure visitors into entering login credentials, downloading software, or granting permissions. By mimicking the visual design and wording of the real Proton VPN site, attackers hope victims will trust the page and disclose sensitive information. The risk lies in credential theft or unauthorized account access, not in any observed malicious code on this particular page.

How do phishing scams typically work?
