PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

oberkonto-tan.com is an impersonation phishing site that presents itself as a Cloudflare page. Its name pairs "Oberkonto" with "TAN", wording that evokes German online banking and transaction codes, which suggests it is aimed at bank customers. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-26. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and its content sat behind a protective challenge.

How the scam works

The page carries the title "Attention Required! | Cloudflare", copying the browser-check screen that millions of people click through every day without a second thought. Schemes like this use that familiar step to lower suspicion, then steer the visitor toward a form that asks for account logins, personal details or one-time codes. Anything typed there goes straight to the operators, who can then sign in or authorise transactions in the victim's name. The title matches Cloudflare's standard interstitial, and we classify the site as impersonation phishing.

Evidence

On 2026-10-07, five of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low hit rate, typical for a phishing domain that only shows its real content behind a challenge, so most scanners never reach the lure. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers have tied it to malicious activity. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Tucows Domains Inc. on 2026-08-25, just one day before we detected it. Domains put to work that quickly are a hallmark of throwaway phishing campaigns. The site resolves through Cloudflare, Inc.'s network, with the address geolocated to Canada. Because the operators sit behind Cloudflare's own proxy, a page wearing Cloudflare branding looks unusually convincing.

What to do

If you reached this site and typed in a username, password or banking details, change those passwords at once from the real service and turn on two-factor authentication. If you entered an online-banking login or a TAN code, call your bank immediately, ask it to block pending transfers, and check recent account activity. Watch for follow-up emails or calls that cite the details you entered. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies and search logs for users who visited it after 2026-08-25. They should also remind staff that a real Cloudflare check never asks for credentials or bank codes.
