PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

mentorspace.co.ke is a phishing domain that impersonates Microsoft. It targets people who use Microsoft accounts for email, Office and cloud storage. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-23, and it was still online with live content on 2026-10-19. The page title reads "404 Not Found", while our classification is Microsoft impersonation phishing.

How the scam works

Microsoft impersonation pages copy the look of a Microsoft sign-in or document-sharing screen. Victims usually arrive through an email or message about a shared file, a mailbox alert or an expiring password. Anyone who types an email address and password on the fake page hands those credentials to the operators. Stolen Microsoft logins are typically used to take over mailboxes, read business correspondence, send further phishing from a trusted address or reach connected cloud files.

Evidence

urlscan.io rates the site malicious and specifically detected Microsoft branding on it, which independently supports the impersonation classification. On VirusTotal, 5 of 91 engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-25: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, G-Data, SOCRadar and Sophos. That is a low detection rate, so many browsers and filters may still let the page through. The domain also appears in 5 AlienVault OTX threat pulses and on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-11-06 through HostPinnacle Cloud Limited, about ten and a half months before PhishDestroy detected it. A Kenyan .co.ke name that sat registered this long before being used for phishing suggests the operators may have used an aged or repurposed domain to appear less suspicious. The site is hosted in Germany on Leaseweb Deutschland GmbH's network, so the hosting has no connection to Microsoft's own infrastructure.

What to do

If you entered a Microsoft password on this site, change it immediately from the official Microsoft account page, and change it on any other service where you used the same password. Turn on multi-factor authentication. Then review your account's recent sign-in activity, active sessions, mailbox forwarding rules and recently registered security methods, and remove anything you do not recognise. If this was a work account, report it to your IT or security team at once so they can revoke sessions and check for misuse. Defenders should block the domain at the mail gateway, DNS and proxy, search mail logs for messages linking to it, and reset credentials for any user who clicked.
