Overview

ledger-live-desktop-in.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page posing as the official desktop app for Ledger hardware wallets. It presented itself as "Ledger Live Desktop® | Manage Your Crypto™ Assets Safely" to catch people searching for the companion software. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-31. The page has been offline since 2026-09-11, after the hosting provider blocked its content, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger Live pages exploit a routine moment: a wallet owner looking for the app to install or update. These sites typically lead the visitor toward a fake "sync", "restore" or "verification" step that asks for the 24-word recovery phrase, or offer a tampered installer that later prompts for it. Ledger never asks for a recovery phrase on a website or in a pop-up. Anyone who types it in gives the operator full control of every account the device protects, and funds can be swept within minutes with no way to reverse the transfers.

Evidence

On 2026-09-12, 14 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, G-Data, Emsisoft, CyRadar and alphaMountain.ai. Several major security vendors therefore agreed independently that it is malicious. urlscan.io gave it a malicious verdict and recognised Ledger branding on the page. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The site ran as a free Cloudflare Pages project, not on a purchased domain. The "-in" suffix lets the subdomain borrow the look of an official download link. The hostname dates to 2025-10-14, about ten and a half months before PhishDestroy flagged it. It resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. network space geolocated to Canada. Free hosting like this costs the operator nothing, which explains why such pages are cheap to spin up again under new names.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this site, treat that wallet as compromised. Reset your Ledger or use a new device, generate a fresh phrase, and move any remaining funds to the new addresses immediately. If you downloaded software from it, uninstall it, run a full malware scan, and install Ledger Live only from Ledger's official website. Report any stolen funds to your local cybercrime authority and keep transaction IDs. Defenders should block the hostname, watch for similar Ledger-themed subdomains on free hosting platforms, and remind users that no legitimate Ledger page ever requests a seed phrase.
