PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledger-get-live.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page built to look like official Ledger material. It presented itself as "How to Download and Install Ledger Live: A Step-by-Step Guide" and aimed at Ledger hardware wallet owners looking for the companion app. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-01. The site has been offline since 2026-09-13 after its hosting provider blocked the content, and it was still down when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger Live download pages exploit a routine moment. A new or returning Ledger owner searches for the app, lands on a convincing tutorial, and follows its link instead of going to Ledger directly. Schemes like this typically hand over a counterfeit or tampered installer. The fake app then claims the device needs to be restored or verified and asks for the 24-word recovery phrase. Anyone who types that phrase gives attackers full control of every account on the device, and they can empty those accounts without ever touching the hardware.

Evidence

VirusTotal flagged the site on 14 of 89 engines on 2026-09-13, the day it went offline. The flagging vendors included alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CyRadar, ESET, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and G-Data. Because these vendors run separate detection pipelines, their agreement is meaningful. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, both of which focus on crypto-specific threats.

Infrastructure

The page was not on a registered domain of its own. It ran as a project on Cloudflare Pages, a free static-hosting service that lets anyone publish under a shared address with no domain purchase. It resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. network space geolocated to Canada and used a Google Trust Services certificate. That combination gave a throwaway lure the padlock and branded-looking address of a legitimate site at almost no cost.

What to do

If you downloaded and ran software from this page, uninstall it, scan the computer, and install Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site. If you entered your recovery phrase anywhere, treat the wallet as compromised. Move funds right away to a new wallet set up with a fresh phrase on a reset or new device. Remember that Ledger never asks for your 24 words in an app, a website or a support chat. Defenders should block this hostname, watch for similar Ledger-themed subdomains on Cloudflare Pages and other free hosting platforms, and report new ones to the provider so they are taken down quickly.
