PhishDestroy threat report
downtownbrooklynev.com is a phishing page that impersonates Netflix. Its page title reads simply "Netflix", and it targets subscribers who are tricked into signing in or "updating" their account. The domain name suggests a Brooklyn business and has no connection to the streaming service. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-27. On 2026-10-19 the server was still responding, but the domain's DNS was inactive.
Netflix lures usually arrive by email or SMS. They claim a payment failed, an account is on hold, or a membership needs verifying, and they link to a page styled like the Netflix sign-in screen. Victims who follow the link type their email and password, and are often then asked for card number, expiry date and security code to "restore" the subscription. The operator takes over the account, tries the same password on other services, and uses or resells the card details.
Eighteen of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-07. Vendors include ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Emsisoft, Gridinsoft, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and Ermes. These are independent security vendors, so many users with common antivirus or web filters would have been warned. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and specifically detected Netflix branding on the page. The domain is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-23 through TUCOWS.COM, CO., only four days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains set up for a single campaign. The site was hosted in the United States on InMotion Hosting, Inc. It used a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock only meant the connection was encrypted, not that the site was genuine.
If you entered your Netflix password on this page, sign in through the official app or by typing the address yourself. Change the password, sign out of all devices, and change it on any other account where you reused it. If you entered card details, call your bank to cancel the card, and watch for unfamiliar charges and follow-up messages pretending to be Netflix support. Security teams should block the domain and its hosting IP at the mail gateway and DNS filter. They should also search mail logs for messages linking to it and reset credentials for any users who clicked.
