cscats.com presents itself as "CS CAT", a Russian-language Counter-Strike 2 case-opening site whose page title promises cases "with printed odds". PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page aimed at CS2 players, especially Russian-speaking ones, who trade and gamble with in-game skins. We first flagged it on 2026-09-05. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.
How the scam works
Fake case-opening sites copy the look of real skin-gambling platforms and use promises like guaranteed or published drop odds to pull players in. The usual next step is a "Sign in through Steam" button that opens a counterfeit login window. That window captures the Steam username, password and Steam Guard code, or it pushes the victim to deposit skins or money for cases that never pay out. With the account in hand, attackers can move the victim's inventory out through trades or market sales. They may also plant a Steam Web API key so they can intercept future trade offers.
Evidence
Five of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low count, so most security products will not block the site yet. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers have tracked it independently. It is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-08-21 through Fewmoretaps OU (Trustname.com), only 15 days before we detected it. A fresh domain with a short gap before detection is typical of throwaway gaming-scam sites. It is hosted on a DigitalOcean server in the Netherlands. Its free Let's Encrypt certificate means the browser padlock says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.
What to do
If you signed in on this site, change your Steam password right away and confirm Steam Guard is active. Then use "Deauthorize all other devices" and check your Steam Web API key page, revoking any key you did not create. Review pending and recent trade offers and cancel any you don't recognise. If you paid by card or e-wallet, contact your provider to dispute the charge. Defenders and community moderators should block cscats.com and the host IP 167.99.223.48, and warn CS2 trading groups about the "CS CAT" branding.
