PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

browserc-360.cn is an impersonation phishing page dressed up as the download portal for 360 Browser (360浏览器), one of the most widely used browsers in China. Its audience is Chinese-speaking users who search for the browser and expect an official installer. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-28, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

The page title, roughly "360 Browser download – 360 Browser [official version] download – latest secure browser," mirrors the wording a real vendor page would use, so a visitor arriving from a search result or ad has little reason to doubt it. Lookalike download portals like this typically aim to get the visitor to fetch and run a file presented as the browser installer. When that happens, the victim hands control of their machine to whatever the operator packaged. That can mean stolen saved passwords, hijacked accounts and, on machines that hold crypto wallets, stolen funds. The added "c" and hyphen in the domain are meant to pass at a glance as a 360 address.

Evidence

When VirusTotal checked the domain on 2026-09-12, 15 of 89 engines flagged it, including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar and Chong Lua Dao. That is a solid cross-vendor consensus for a page that only imitates a download site. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. Beyond PhishDestroy, it appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, which shows crypto-security teams treat it as a risk to wallet users. Four AlienVault OTX pulses also reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-07-29 through the Chinese registrar 杭州电商互联科技有限公司, just 30 days before PhishDestroy detected it. A fresh domain going live that quickly is typical of disposable phishing setups. Traffic runs through Cloudflare (address 104.21.21.6, geolocated to Canada), so the real origin server is hidden behind the proxy. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gives the page a padlock, and that padlock says nothing about whether the site belongs to 360.

What to do

If you downloaded anything from this site, delete it without running it. If you already ran the file, treat the computer as compromised: run a full antivirus scan and, from a different clean device, change passwords for email, banking and other important accounts and turn on two-factor authentication. If that machine held crypto wallets or seed phrases, move funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. Only get 360 Browser from the vendor's own site. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and check endpoint logs for recent installer downloads from it.
