PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

admin.thecircle.be is an "admin" subdomain that PhishDestroy classifies as an impersonation phishing page. It poses as a trusted service to win the confidence of crypto users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11. When last checked on 2026-10-19, the host was still alive and redirecting visitors elsewhere, so the threat remains active.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look and wording of a service the victim already trusts. The goal is to get the victim to type a password or recovery phrase, or to approve a wallet connection, on a page the attacker controls. The page title is only the hostname itself and names no brand, so the lure depends on whatever content or redirect target the visitor lands on. Victims can lose account access, seed phrases, or wallet funds, depending on what they hand over.

Evidence

The strongest signals come from the crypto ecosystem. Besides PhishDestroy, both MetaMask's phishing blocklist and SEAL list the domain, so wallet software that uses those lists may already warn users. On VirusTotal, 5 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-24: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low count, so many general-purpose security tools will not block it. The specialist wallet blocklists matter more here than the antivirus tally.

Infrastructure

The parent domain was registered on 2015-12-30, more than ten years before the phishing activity was detected. The malicious content therefore sits under a long-standing name rather than a freshly bought one, which can make the address look more trustworthy to visitors. The site is hosted in Belgium on AS59943 (Level 27 BVBA), which matches the country-code domain. Its TLS certificate comes from Let's Encrypt, so the padlock in the browser only shows an encrypted connection, not a legitimate site.

What to do

If you entered a password on this site or on a page it redirected you to, change that password wherever you use it and turn on app-based two-factor authentication. If you typed a recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining funds to a new wallet created with a fresh phrase. If you connected a wallet and approved anything, revoke those token approvals with a reputable approval checker. Defenders should block the full hostname at DNS and proxy level and check logs for visits since 2026-09-11. Because only part of this name is involved, they should also alert the owner of the parent domain.
