Overview

admin.santandercitas.com is a live impersonation phishing page that copies the look of Santander’s online appointment portal. PhishDestroy first observed the site on 2026-10-07 and it remains active as of 2026-10-19. The page’s URL path “admin” suggests an administrative login, reinforcing the illusion of a legitimate Santander interface.

How the scam works

The page, titled “Acceso”, prompts visitors to enter their banking credentials as if logging into Santander. Submitted usernames and passwords are captured by the attackers, enabling unauthorized access to the victims’ bank accounts. Because the page does not forward to an official Santander domain, any entered data is directly harvested by the attackers.

Evidence

VirusTotal scans flagged the domain in 8 of 92 engines, including detections from alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar, DNS8, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. The site is also listed on PhishDestroy and Phishunt blocklists, confirming its malicious nature. No Google Safe Browsing or urlscan.io verdicts were reported, but the multiple independent detections are sufficient to confirm malicious intent.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2015-07-09 through DonDominio (SCIP) and is hosted on an Amazon.com, Inc. server (AS16509) in the United States, IP 216.150.16.193. It serves content over HTTPS with a Let’s Encrypt / YR2 certificate. The use of a free Let’s Encrypt certificate masks the malicious nature but does not affect the underlying phishing activity.

What to do

Anyone who entered credentials should immediately change their Santander password, enable two‑factor authentication, and notify their bank of possible compromise. Security teams should block the domain, monitor for related traffic, and add the indicator to internal phishing and threat‑intel feeds. Affected users should also review recent account activity for unauthorized transactions and consider placing a fraud alert with their financial institution.
